Two Down....

Thirty-three more to go. Weeks of school, that is. As most parents and children are excited about catching the yellow bus again, we are excited about getting back into our schooling routine at home. We officially began last week. Hard to believe it's our seventh year.

We've made a few adjustments with Chas coming along in kindergarten. The children and I begin the day with a trip around the neighborhood, bright and early as the rest of the neighborhood is awakening. An early morning scoot is good for exerting a high energy, 5 year old boy. I have been amazed at their enthusiasm to get out of bed for this. We arrive at home in time to sit down to a quick breakfast with Daddy before he leaves for work.

Chas is an eager little guy. My intention was to work with him for about hour each day. The first day, three hours later, he was still wanting to do more. Now I don't expect this to continue, but I will certainly take advantage of an eager student when the situation presents itself.

Madison is becoming more independent by recording her own studies and attendance. Being a homeschool student has not forced as many responsibilities. This will help encourage that attribute.

You would think adding another student would be more stressful. But instead, it has breathed new life into this teacher. My time with them will one day seem to have been too short. I want to enjoy and take advantage of every moment.
