Revealed
The seasons have been playing in my mind, the changes which occur and what they reveal. Autumn has always been my favorite. There is a crispness in the air. The leaves are brilliant colors of reds, yellows, oranges and purples mixed in with the sparse amounts of green. What beauty!
Then the wind blows and the rains come and what truly is going on is revealed. The leaves have been cut off from their nutrient supply. They may be breath taking to the eye, but in reality, they are dead, cut off, separated. And as the harshness of winter begins to bear down, all beauty is torn away and scattered.
Now the tree, naked and bare, discloses the diseased and decayed limbs the leaves were concealing. They are now in plain view to either be dealt with or ignored. To ignore it further weakens the tree. Yes, new growth will come in the spring, but once winter arrives again the damage will be greater than before. And as the seasons continue to change, eventually attempts to recover each spring will become impossible as the tree succumbs to neglect and dies.
As we live life, we too have seasons. This past year revealed I have been in autumn, puffed up and proud. Then bitter winds blew, tearing away my pride and exposing the decay which had been hidden. The pruning process has been painful, but the Lord in His grace and mercy has allowed new growth, stronger and more beautiful than before.
Looking forward to continued healing in 2007. To God be the glory, great things He has done!
"Now may the God of peace Himself santify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Thes. 5:23
Wishing you His bounty of blessings in 2007!
