Glorious Spring

The last few weeks we have been enjoying the outdoors. Here's what we've done.

The Lake
Oops! Forgot to take the camera when we went to the lake for a day of a little work and a little play. We cleared out vines, small trees, fallen trees, and debris in the wooded area near the water's edge. Alex found a black salamader with light colored spots under a log. Since we burned his home, we found him a new spot near the smaller creek.

We were in awe of a hawk which was gliding above us. Several wood ducks landed in our slough. It was the first time we have seen them there, so we were thrilled and hope to see them again.

Friends showed up right as we were finishing up our work. The kids splashed in the creek and squished through the mud. They caught tadpoles and minnows and put them in a mudhole. Deer and raccoon tracks were spotted. We fished and canoed.

Fishing is an easy task at our lake. Don't even need bait! All you have to do is put a hook in the water and the brim will bite. Here's a couple a shots taken with a camera phone.

Look closely and you'll find a fish on the end of that line.

This fish is easier to find.

The Botanical Gardens

Isn't it lovely?

Don't touch!

Interesting find in the natural wooded area.

Our Yard
We have also done some explorering in our own yard. Lightening bugs and rolly pollies seem to be the insects of choice.
Madison found this spider and noticed it's 3D web. We wondered how it got around on its web, but it did not move while we observed it.

Today Chas looked into the clear blue sky and commented to me, "It's a beautiful day!"
